Hey Rebooters! How the hell is it the end of 2023 already?! But we made it, and so did you, and we took the opportunity to have a bit of a look back over the last 12 months in this episode:
Although frankly, we’re still in total disbelief at how fast this year has flown past.
First up, it’s not just the end of a season, it’s the end of SEASON SIX. We are at the end of season SIX of our little whimsically created podcast, and we’re excited and baffled in equal measure by that. And while we love creating it, we want to say a big THANK YOU to you guys – because if you didn’t listen, download & interact, it would be more of a private conversation than a podcast, right?!
What we talk about
We’ll keep the show notes as overview and sneak peek-ish as possible, as it ended up being a surprisingly emotional episode in some depth for both of us – and not at all what we’d originally expected when we said we’d do a look back at 2023.
But we touch on a year full of the unexpected, the emotional expectations of 2023 for everyone, our own ADHD diagnoses and the struggles of unlearning our own coping mechanisms, redefining and adjusting life with new knowledge and a new lens.
We talk about (deep breath): money, J-O-Bs, personal identity, priorities, the rollercoaster of freelance income, moving, not moving, loss and grief, realising our capabilities, balance, support, shoulds, the magic of accountability, planning differently, learning, figuring out how to balance social connections and alone time in work and life, alternative income sources, struggles with maintaining All The Everything, taking on too much, pressure and where it comes from, grand plans and finding it hard to follow through, direction or lack thereof, big plans, life disruptions, creativity, embracing routine, small joys, masking, and the importance of honesty.
Phew! We choose some favourite moments from our guest episodes, too, and we also talk about our favourite purchases this year, in the context of small things bringing joy.
And finally
Whatever the meaning of this time of year for you, whether you celebrate Christmas, Yule, the solstice, new year, or just have a period of calm amidst the chaos, we wish you peacefulness and happiness, and we’ll see you next year for season 7!
(we have no idea what season 7 looks like at time of writing, but there’s a good chance we’ll feature guests at some stage so give us a shout if you’d like to join us!)
